After picking up his first camera at the tender age of nine years old whilst taking family holiday pictures, it was clear to see that Michael had a talent for photography. The rest, as they say is history.
Michael’s skills rank him as one of the country’s leading photographers and is highly sort after. A nationally acclaimed photographer whose career has spanned over 25 years, and included photographing over 850 weddings and over 5000 portrait assignments.
He has had the pleasure of photographing many famous people in his time as a professional, for example HRH Prince Andrew, Prime minister Tony Blair, Sven Goran Eriksson (then England manager), Kevin Keegan (also when England manager), Tony Banks (then MP for sport), Bob Murray (then Sunderland Chairman), Peter Reid, Alan Shearer, and various other professional footballers to name a few. He was also Sunderland Football club official photographer for 8 years covering team and player photography, and all boardroom photography.
Michael has won over 70 national and regional awards, both in the Master Photographers Association (of which he gained the title of Licentiate in 1992, at the age of 21 years old, the youngest in the country to gain this title at the time), and the prestigious Fujifilm Awards.
Recently, Michael has scooped 4 National Merit awards in the Master Photographers Annual Awards ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel. A competition open to photographers around the globe, with more than 2500 entries. The four awards he won with (3 for contemporary wedding images, and one for pets photography), was the most won by one photographer in the whole of the Northeast of England.
